German Authorities Dismantle eXch Crypto Laundering Hub, Seize €34 Million
German law enforcement has dealt a significant blow to cybercriminal networks with the takedown of eXch, a dark web platform specializing in laundering stolen cryptocurrency. The Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Federal Criminal Police Office seized €34 million in digital assets and eight terabytes of forensic data—marking Germany’s third-largest crypto seizure.
Launched in 2014, eXch processed over $1.9 billion in illicit funds, serving as a critical hub for laundering proceeds from high-profile heists, including the $243 million Genesis Creditor hack. On-chain investigator ZachXBT played a pivotal role in exposing the platform’s operations, leading to its shutdown.
